PC gaming handhelds had a significant presence at Computex 2024, with a range of new handhelds hitting the market in the coming months. However, the ZOTAC ZONE stood out amongst the pack because it managed to incorporate some of the best elements from existing handhelds to create something new - and tasty.

The Zotac Zone is the prettiest handheld we’ve ever seen thanks to its super-bright and colorful AMOLED screen. But beyond good looks, this new PC gaming handheld is also a cut above with its Hall effect thumbsticks, radial dials for quick setting adjustments, clicky D-pad, dual touchpads, and adjustable triggers.

ZOTAC GAMING ZONE - TOP DESIGN INNOVATIONS FROM COMPUTEX 2024

ZOTAC is another new contender, one that has its sights set on the name that started it all: the Steam Deck. While it resembles this progenitor in some aspects, the ZOTAC ZONE tries to take the design where Valve seems reluctant to go. Better hardware and configurable controls will sing to the hearts of many gamers, but the steep price tag could be a major deterrent as well.

What really surprised me about the Zotac Zone is how the company listened to its community and made sure to include all of the features they wanted along with a few useful extras to boot.

The Zone brings a relatively light design, dual trackpads like the Steam Deck, an OLED screen, and a webcam with Windows Hello support. Other standout options include rotating dials around the analog sticks for controlling various functions, an integrated kickstand, and adjustable triggers. It does have a small battery, though, coming in below the Steam Deck OLED. But there’s a lot to like here, nonetheless.
