La caratteristica più distintiva, trattandosi di una scheda consumer, sono sicuramente i 24GB GDDR6X di memoria con cui è equipaggiata che, come detto in precedenza, risultano assolutamente sproporzionati per l'ambito videoludico.

Die Geforce RTX 3080 schlägt ihren Vorgänger RTX 2080 deutlich. Nimmt man z.B. die Zotac Geforce RTX 2080 AMP als Vergleichs-Grafikkarte, dann ist die RTX beispielsweise in 3DMark-Tests je nach Benchmark zwischen 20 und knapp 80 Prozent schneller. Auch eine RTX 2080 Ti wie die Geforce RTX 2080 Ti AMP Extreme hat keine Chance - hier beträgt der Vorsprung bis zu 30%. Luft nach oben bleibt mit der am 24. September 2020 erschienenen Geforce RTX 3090 auch noch.

Of course this is a custom card from Zotac, their RTX 3090 Trinity and is their only RTX 3090 offering currently. One thing I really like about this card is that it is not all the big. It conforms to a 2-slot card size, so if you wanted to mount it vertically you really won’t have any issues, unlike the reference-designed card. Zotac has outfitted the card with their own 3-fan cooling solution, which worked quite well and even during full load was not all that loud. The fans will turn completely off during idle and each is individually controllable using their FireStorm app. You also have RGB lighting (of course) with a large Zotac Gaming logo on the top-edge of the card and a smaller logo on the full-cover backplate.

Now with the doom and gloom out of the way, Zotac’s new RTX 3090 Trinity is quite a treat. The new triple fan ‘Trinity’ cooler proved to be more than capable of keeping the card cool, with the fans staying slow and quiet under full load and only allowing the card to hit around 70C. If you manually bump them up a bit, you can easily keep the card in the 50’s. We like the Aesthetics and lighting, but man is that main side Zotac logo area bright! Thankfully, this is easily configurable in the Spectra side of the Firestorm Utility. We also really like the quick yellow pattern across it when the card boots up, almost like a system check. It’s minor, but it’s kind of fun. Overclocking didn’t really gain us a ton, Zotac has already eeked out most of what this chip is capable of, but that’s a good thing for the majority of users that just want to plug it in and have zero compromises. If you want the Retina pleasing barrage of pixels only the RTX 3090 can provide, look no further than the RTX 3090 Trinity from Zotac!

As I said earlier, this card looks identical to the Zotac Gaming RTX 3080 Trinity, as it uses the exact same PCB and cooler design. Actually, I best make sure I put them back in the right boxes! It’s an MSRP card, which means it’s Zotac’s take on the founders edition or reference model. That should be reflected in the price though, as this could even be cheaper than the FE, while still offering basically the same performance. Despite being a base model, don’t be fooled, this is still one of the fastest consumer GPUs ever created.

Furthermore, Zotac has equipped it with their equally impressive triple fan cooler and a massive heatsink, so even with this level of performance, cooling isn’t really a big issue.

Nonostante questo punto a sfavore, la RTX 3080 Trinity si è rivelata essere una buona scheda, onesta anche in overclock, soprattutto dal punto di vista di temperature e rumorosità, grazie anche all'impiego dell'ormai collaudato sistema di raffreddamento IceStorm.

Venendo alle prestazioni, queste hanno sicuramente rispettato le aspettative: senza troppi giri di parole possiamo affermare che la RTX 3080 è la scheda ideale della generazione corrente per giocare in 4K sopra i 60 FPS.

Por otro lado, el rendimiento es bueno, algo mas corto que el de NVIDIA, pero no mucho, y el comportamiento a nivel de ruido es realmente bueno y la tarjeta tiene un desempeño fantástico. No se convertirá en la mejor grafica que ha pasado por nuestro laboratorio, pero seguramente podremos encontrarla pronto, ahora no, a precios algo más económicos que el modelo de referencia, o no, y el desempeño es muy equilibrado y no nos hemos encontrado con defectos importantes como el “coil whine” de nuestro “sample” de la NVIDIA Founders Edition.

Zotac's new Trinity thermal solution comes with an understated design that's dominated by black with silver highlights. A metal backplate and adjustable RGB lighting is included, too. Temperatures are good: 73°C, or 5°C cooler than the Founders Edition. Noise levels are even better with just 32 dBA, which makes the Trinity one of the quietest RTX 3080 cards we've reviewed today. Just like all other RTX 3080 cards, the Trinity comes with the idle-fan-stop feature, which completely turns off the fans in idle, productivity, browsing, and video playback—the perfect noise-free experience.

Zotac entscheidet sich bei der RTX 3080 Trinity für einen klassischen Kühler mit drei Axiallüftern. Diese lassen per Software auch einzeln ansteuern – so ließe sich auf Wunsch Lüfterrichtung und -geschwindigkeit anpassen. Der Kühler macht einen guten Job und hält die Karte auch unter Last stets unterhalb der 75 °C, und bleibt dabei für so eine mächtige Karte erstaunlich leise – deutlich leiser als die Founders Edition. Im Idle schaltet sich der Kühler komplett aus. Dafür ist die Karte auch ziemlich lang (31,8 cm) und benötigt drei Slots in der Breite. Sie ist also nichts für Small-Form-Factor-Enthusiasten, die viel Leistung in ein kleines Gehäuse stopfen möchten.
